Maru Sushi Grill, located on Cherry Street just outside of downtown Grand Rapids, is looking for a part time, experienced, professional bartender, preferably available on both Friday and Saturday nights. Must be able to handle high volume, serving guests as well as service bar, be able to work with a partner, make and create craft cocktails, not just pour beer. The right person can also pick up other shifts during the week as a server if they like. Bring your creativity, knowledge, and passion for the job and help us make Maru the best it can be.

Job Summary:

The Bartender will prepare and serve alcohol and nonalcoholic beverages to guests, oversee the stock of liquor and bar supplies, and collect money for drinks served.

• Receives orders from guests and Sales Associates.

• Prepares and serves liquor, mixed drinks, wine, beer, and nonalcoholic drinks as ordered in adherence to the drink recipes.

• Ensures that garnishes are prepared ahead of the opening of the bar.

• Maintains the bar and keeps it clean and organized.

• Attractively displays glasses and liquor bottles.

• Ensures that customers are of legal drinking age by checking photo IDs.

• Collects money from customers for drinks prepared and served.

• Uses proper judgment and, when necessary, refuses service to patrons who are intoxicated or disruptive.

• Submits orders or creates requisition forms for liquor, beer, and other bar-related supplies.

Required Skills/Abilities:

Examples:

• Extensive knowledge of drink preparation or service.

• Excellent interpersonal skills and focus on serving customers.

• Ability to remain calm when dealing with unruly and argumentative patrons.

• Ability to learn and operate a POS (Toast, Resy)

Education and Experience:

• Completion of mixology, barkeeping, or other related training required.

• At least one year of related experience is preferred.

Physical Requirements:

• Prolonged periods standing and preparing drinks.

• Ability to complete orders quickly and accurately.

• Must be able to lift at least 15 pounds.

• Must be legal drinking age or older.
